Everyday Health

case-study2

The Client

Everyday Health is a leading digital health and wellness company. Attracting 42 million people monthly through its popular websites, mobile applications, and social media presence, Everyday Health inspires consumers to live healthier lives and helps doctors make more informed decisions for their patients.

The Objective

High-level objectives of our Test Automation Services to the client were to :

  • Improve existing test automation projects to provide more test coverage and reduce testing time
  • Develop new test automation projects with quick turnaround time
  • Improve existing test infrastructure and automation process
  • Support automated testing of non-functional tests such as analytics tags validation

The Solution

Softcrylic’s test automation team enhanced Everyday Health’s existing test automation framework to support parallel test execution in a cloud infrastructure achieving some immediate gains. By parallelizing their test suites, Everyday Health was able to execute tests in several browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, iPhone and Android browsers) increasing the test coverage and also reduce overall test time by 70%.

By implementing standards and best practice such as using design patterns into test scripts development, our automation team was able to rapidly develop and deliver new test automation projects to Everyday Health with quick turnaround time.

Softcrylic helped Everyday Health QA team add more value to the software development process by integrating test automation projects with Jenkins CI tool which were then executed as nightly jobs or based on when the developers did code check-in. This quick feedback from testing team improved developers productivity.

Softcrylic developed a custom test automation framework to support non-functional test automation for Everyday Health. With the framework that we developed, Everyday Health was able to perform automated validations of their Omniture/Google analytics tags implemented in several of their web and mobile applications. This included the following sites: www.everydayhealth.com, www.whattoexpect.com, www.jillianmichaels.com, www.deniseaustin.com, www.southbeachdiet.com and www.mayoclinic.org.

The Results

Softcrylic helped Everyday Health improve their test automation projects in several aspects and increased the overall ROI on test automation projects. The biggest source of ROI, however, was the increase in developer productivity.
