Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) is a beast of a topic and we wanted to make sure we delivered valuable insights into this mega-offering from Adobe. There is a lot to discuss when it comes to AEP and hence why we will be having a series of webinars on this topic. In the first episode, we rounded up a group of experts (Jerry Helou, Bradley Kossmann, Hariprasath GovindaChetty, Bhupendra Kumar) that have been working closely with the platform to share a deep look inside AEP. We concentrated on 4 areas:

  • General Overview of the Platform
  • Data Ingestion
  • Data Science Workspace
  • Adobe I/O and APIs

Here are the main takeaways although we recommend you watch the recording to get the full experience:

  • AEP ingests data from all sources and is not only limited to Adobe products. The same applies to data activation. The list of partners is well beyond Adobe products. Given Adobe’s API friendly platform, the integrations are limitless
  • It is important to plan ahead when ingesting data into AEP. Work with your internal teams to figure out the exact schema way before you build any classes or mixins in the platform
  • You have access to some data prep tools within AEP but you should plan to do a lot of the heavy lifting ahead of ingesting the data
  • Data Science Workspace, powered by the Query Service, allows the data scientists to build their models on the entire data within AEP.
  • The old ways of extracting data from Adobe into a local or cloud environment to analyze becomes obsolete with AEP
  • Recipes can be triggered through events loaded into AEP
  • Data Privacy is a big deal in AEP. Early on in the process, you have to define these rules which impacts how this data is being handled, viewed, analyzed and activated
  • Adobe I/O runtime brings a lot of new capabilities to the table that can enable users to leverage the platform in new ways that wasn’t possible before
  • Adobe APIs are not new, but they are enhanced. They evolved from being solution based to now supporting the entire platform
  • The idea of real-time should be evaluated and fully understood when it comes to the platform. Is your data loaded in real-time? Are your destinations real-time capable? Does your use case require real-time?
