Adobe Summit Reaction from a First-Timer’s Perspective

As an Adobe Summit newbie, it was everything I expected and more. I tend to enjoy conferences; for me they are like a mix of summer camp in a very nice hotel + college without the exams. Everything is super-organized yet fun, like the sessions, meals, and social activities; and there’s a course catalog with a huge variety of classes, learning a lot in a short period of time, and meeting new people.

There were two main highlights that stood out to me.

1. Meeting new people and connecting with coworkers

I won’t lie, the social activities and working the booth were the best part. Having an opportunity to hang out with clients and coworkers away from the office yet in an environment where innovation is top-of-mind truly helped strengthen these relationships. It helped shape more strategic conversations as to where the future could take us, both as an organization and as a partner.

I truly enjoyed meeting new people and hearing about their companies, as well as their challenges and successes. Since most of my coworkers are remote it was also fantastic getting to connect with them and learn more about their lives and the work they do.

2. The sessions

I went to a combination of labs and case studies. The labs were run extremely well; they had pre-configured workstations and provided specific how-to instructions as we walked through examples. It was great to get some hands-on experience on tools I’ve only seen in videos, such as Customer Journey Analytics. If I return in the future, I would definitely sign up for more of these.

The case studies are always awesome and serve two purposes for me: I love seeing new ways these tools can be used to further growth but sometimes it’s just good to see other companies deep-dive into their approach and get validation that we’re doing it right too.
