It has been 3 years since the last Adobe Summit that I attended. Although Adobe, in pure Adobe fashion, innovated and conducted virtual summits during these 3 years – I will be honest that I didn’t attend any of them. They were free and had really good content, but I couldn’t get myself to watch them live. Maybe it is the burnout of virtual meetings or just being stubborn that it wouldn’t be the same but I semi-boycotted Adobe Summit during these 3 years.

Well, that’s history now, history I hope we never get to revisit. This year we are back!

Adobe Summit 2023 Part I: What to Expect

Keeping up with Summit traditions, I wanted to share with you my thoughts on what to expect at this Summit. I will follow-up with Part II, after Summit, on top things that caught my eye and ears during that busy week.

So let’s get into it, there are few things you should expect and look forward to this year:

Great Sessions

The Softcrylic Team has done a great job in summarizing a list of great sessions to attend. Check out their recommendations here:

Few weeks ago, I was a guest on a webinar organized by the Accutics team where we talked through some of our favorite sessions. If you didn’t get to watch the webinar live, check it out here and download the Summit Cheat Sheets as well! A bit of bias towards Adobe Analytics and Customer Journey Analytics but nevertheless, really good recommendations.

Softcrylic Kiosk

So this year we are bringing a Softcrylic Squad to Summit and for the first time ever, we are having our Kiosk in the Community Pavilion Spot. We will be at Kiosk #544 C. You must stop by and say hi. Not only you get to meet the larger Softcrylic team and ask them whatever you want but we also have some fun giveaways and games! We had fun preparing for this 😊

People, hugs and laughs

Since last in-person Summit, I hired new people, made new industry friends, and worked with new clients that I never saw in person and only seen them on Teams or Zoom. I am sure you can relate to that. One thing to expect is that people look different in person than on Zoom. They might look taller or shorter so don’t be surprised when you see them.

I also hope hugs are going to be ok now because I will be hugging. I expect to see people hugging, high fiving and laughing when they meet for the first time in person. If you are not a hugger, I apologize for intruding into your personal space.

Summit Bash

Adobe Summit Bash is so underrated. Adobe is about experiences and I must admit that they do a great job making this event an exception experience. From the random people holding bash signs, the busses transporting you and to the musical acts that are amazing.

For musical act, this year they are going all in with hip hop icons Rev Run and Macklemore. I wonder if they are sharing the stage or it will be separate acts at different stages. The best part about this is that the venue is different this year and is happening at AREA15. I never been but the pictures look amazing.

Announcements

Typically, Summit is the place where Adobe announces something big. It could be a new cloud, new platform, or new service. What could be the announcement this year? Well, if I were to forecast/wish, I would say one of the following:

  • Microsoft + Adobe acquisition, it is time.
  • Clean Rooms, seems to be the hottest thing since CDP so maybe there is an official product around that offering.
  • ChatGPT integration, everywhere you look there is GPT product now, remind me when every new streaming service came up with +

No COVID

Yes the unspeakable word, I expect and hope neither me or any of you catch COVID during this conference. It won’t be a good present to bring back home. Let’s make sure we wash our hands thoroughly and stay safe.
